SGCS Athletic Booster Board
September 26, 2005
We opened with a prayer.
Secretary’s Report - Teri D. shared the minutes from the June 05 meeting and reported that they have been posted on the website, and will remain there until the minutes from THIS meeting replace them.
Treasurer’s Report – Tony L. shared the report. He will be very open on details on our finances. See the report for details.
Fundraiser Update – Rich C. reported on behalf of Kathy that we have earned $726 YTD on Spiritwear. Teri D. reported that we earned just over $600 on Buddy cards, and we would like to repeat this fundraiser next year. We will do the Flower Sale in the spring, and would like to investigate a March Madness fundraiser.
Girls Basketball – We purchased new uniforms for grades 4-8. We purchased more uniforms than intended while remaining $400 under budget. A reminder that 5th grade was not satisfied with our choice of uniform and purchased their own uniforms and that’s why they look different.
Winter Sports Signups – will be held the first 2 weeks in
October. Signups later than Oct 14 will require a late fee. Forms are online – if you don’t have online access contact Teri D. who will send you a hard copy of the forms. Forms need to be returned to Tony. Registration info also needs to be sent to St. Matthias, St. Gabriel, and St. Martin de Porres parishes as those children are also eligible to play in our program.
Looking ahead to Winter Sports – Karin O. will return as VB coordinator, Tony will return as Boys BB coordinator (though we are looking for someone to “shadow” Tony to take this over next year). Interested coaches should contact the appropriate coordinator.
Cheerleading – practices are on Wed after school – 16 girls participating. Robyn
A. is leading practices, and parents will coordinate at games. Celeste T. is working on sizing the current uniforms to those girls who signed up to cheer.
Volunteers Needed – Wendy W. and Brenda T. have done a great job as Girls BB coordinators, and we are happy to report that they have agreed to share that role for another year. Boys BB coordinator described above, need parents to run the gate and the scoreboard at St. Francis. We also need someone to help with Fundraisers and Sponsorships.
Old Business – Dwayne F. is obtaining Cougars and Visitors sign to hang in St. F – should be available for boys season. Cougars will sit away from the door (minimizes distractions)
Next Meeting – Nov 14
George mentioned the handbook changes which groups constitutional pieces separately from policy and procedure pieces. There are also a few loopholes or gaps we will fill (such as teams will be required to wear the Booster provided uniform, the Conflict committee will be established, etc.)
The search for available, low cost gym time continues. Rich C. has worked with owners/landlords of over 2 dozen gyms to find the best long term facilities we can reasonably afford.
New Business – reminder to coaches for winter/spring sports that they need to attend the Child Protection workshop if they have not already done so – copy of your certificate needs to be on file with Teri D.
The newsletter will be published more often in an attempt to improve communications. Any ideas sent to Rich C., newsletter will also be posted on the website.
