Cougar Athletic Registration News
Though
it seems early to be thinking of Fall sports already, there is
lots of planning work to be done. Registration for Fall sports
(3rd through 8th grade) begins April 19 and runs through May
7. You may turn in your registration at the Sports
Banquet; however, no change will be available if you pay with
cash. Fall sports include Girls Basketball.
Registration for 8th grade Cheerleading will be held during
Winter Sports Registration.
Girls
Basketball begins practice August 1, and games start the weekend
after Labor Day. Most games are held on weekends, though
occasionally there is a weeknight game. If you are interested in
coaching, please indicate so on your child’s registration form
and also contact Bill Montour, Girls Basketball Coordinator.
The fee for the fall sports season
is $125/sport. The family maximum is $500. Registrations
received after May 7 will be added to teams provided
there is room, and a late fee of $20 will be charged. All forms are located on the SGCS
website's Forms page. If you are unable to access the
website, please email the Laura Hendy,
, for a hard copy of the forms.
Please submit all 3 forms:
- Sports
Registration Packet (registration form, CYO sports
release form and emergency medical form) including all parents’
signatures and the athlete’s signature that they have read
and agree to the Code of Conduct. These can be found
in the Athletics Handbook also.
- Check made out to SGCS Boosters with the appropriate fee (Note: If
payment of the fee poses a significant financial burden,
please write a note to Mr. Epplen, School Principal)
Please send ALL Registration information to the school
office, Attn: Boosters Registration.
Note to anyone interested in coaching: You can indicate your
interest on the registration form itself, or contact the
appropriate Sports Coordinator (Bill Montour for Basketball) or
any member of the Booster Board. Coaches also must sign and
submit the Coach's
Code of Conduct (assistant coaches under the age of 16 are
not required to meet the Archdiocese Child Protection
requirements, however a second adult who HAS completed the
requirements must be in attendance at all practices and games).
The Sport Coordinator may also ask you to complete an
application as well. All coaches need to be approved by the
Booster Board before the season starts.
All Coaches and assistant coaches must also have completed
the Archdiocesan Child Protection process of being fingerprinted
at an Archdiocesan approved location and completing the Child
Protection Orientation. Fingerprinting can be done at St.
Max Parish, please consult their bulletin or click
here for details. For other Archdiocesan
locations go to http://www.catholiccincinnati.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=420&Itemid=976
